Completion Requirements and Deadlines

What counts as completing a course, the deadlines, and what happens if you miss one.

Amounts, windows and limits on this page are drafts that aali confirms before launch.

What completing a course means

You complete a cohort course or an on-demand course when you have done four things:

  1. opened and worked through every required session, reading and case;
  2. submitted every required assignment and activity;
  3. reached the pass mark on the graded checks, which the course page states;
  4. taken part in the cohort discussions where the course requires it.

A sprint has no graded checks; you complete it by finishing all its lessons.

Deadlines

  • Cohort courses: each required item has a due date in the course calendar, and the final deadline is the last day of the cohort's last week.
  • On-demand courses: your access lasts for the period shown at enrolment, and you complete within it (draft: six months).
  • Late work: work handed in up to 48 hours after a due date is accepted without penalty, once per course (draft). After that it counts only through an exception.

Group work and live sessions

Some courses include a group task, and the course page says so. If a member of your group does not take part, tell your teacher early; we mark each person on their own contribution where we can. Live sessions are the heart of a cohort, and the course page says whether attendance is required. If you miss one, we offer the recording and a short written task where possible.

Retaking a check

If you do not reach the pass mark on a graded check, you may retake it once before the final deadline (draft), and the higher mark counts.

When you are done

When you meet the last requirement, your completion is recorded in your account within a few working days and your certificate is issued, as the credentials policy explains. If you miss the final deadline the course is not complete; you can ask for an exception, or enrol in a later cohort at the price then in force.

No partial certificates

aali does not issue a certificate for part of a course. Your account does keep your progress and marks for the period of your access, so you can build on them if you re-enrol in a later cohort with the team's agreement.

Following your progress

Your account shows what is done, what is due and the pass mark. We send a reminder before each deadline, and teachers do not change the requirements during a cohort.
